August 10-16 is Elvis Week.  Here’s an amazing website for you: it says, “Of all the requests made each year to the National Archives for reproductions of photographs and documents, one item has been requested more than any other. That item, more requested than the Bill of Rights or even the Constitution of the United States, is the photograph of Elvis Presley and Richard M. Nixon shaking hands on the occasion of Presley’s visit to the White House.”  There is more documentation of this historic occasion that one might expect (or believe), all online for your head-shaking delight.

Meanwhile, check here for the 37 fiction and non-fiction books, CDs, and DVDs we have that involve The King.

Alfred Hitchcock’s birthday is tomorrow; he was born August 13, 1899.  Honor Mr. Hitchcock by scaring yourself silly with some of these materialsBwahaha.

And finally, August is Happiness Happens Month We sincerely hope it happens to you.  If you need help reading about happiness–or searching for it– come on by your library.  We’ll do our best to help you find it.
