June is Audiobook month, and on June 6 the winners of the annual Audie Awards were announced.  Often referred to as the “Oscars of spoken word entertainment,” the Audies honor excellence in audiobook narration and production.

The top award–audiobook of the year—went to Bossypants by Tina Fey. The Audie judges commented that “listening to Fey tell the story of her life is like going out for a coffee with an old and funny friend.”

You have two options for listening to this title. You can check out the CD version, or download the title through the Washington Anytime Library powered by Overdrive.

Here’s a complete list of the 2012 winners and nominees. A few of these may already be available in our actual or “virtual” collections, and I’ll be looking at this list when I place my next audiobook order.

Get caught listening! This Summer take books with you–in the car, to the beach, on a hike in the mountains, while you’re gardening. Audiobooks can go everywhere you go.
