Get ready for Summer Reading

Our children’s librarian, Lisa Anderson, has been a bit crazed the past few days. She’s getting everything ready for her annual visits to the local grade schools to promote our Summer Reading program. Lisa’s been preparing her booktalks on fun new kid’s books, copying off hundreds of information sheets, and getting herself primed to get kids excited about reading.

Numerous studies have shown that reading over the summer prevents “summer reading loss,” and helps keep kids on track when they head back to school in the fall.

If you have kids (or grandkids!) sign them up for Summer Reading at their local library.  They’ll have fun “making a splash” and winning prizes.

And don’t let the kids have all the fun; we’ve got programs for teens and adults, too.
