As shown below, you can click either right on the book, which takes you to more info about that particular item; or you can click right on the logo, which opens a page to browse all new books and subscribe to the list by e-mail.

Thanks to the Burlington Library Foundation for funding the first year of this service.   This is one thing we know our patrons want and use.  Everybody loves new books!

Seeing the Big Picture

According to a recent article in Publishers Weekly online, there’s a new generation of readers turning to large print books. As baby boomers continue to age, the audience for large print titles is diversifying, and so are its tastes. The article notes:

“The U.S. Census Bureau released its first profile of the baby boomer generation in 13 years last November, revealing some interesting findings. In 2006, the first of the boomers began turning 60, at an estimated rate of 330 per hour. And the generation accounts for just over 78 million people, more than a fourth of the country’s total population.” (Read the complete article)

As the large print materials selector here at the library, I’m adding more titles to the large print collection that are just good reads: perhaps a second copy of a best seller, a great stand-alone thriller, or historical novels with broad appeal.

Our large print budget is small, but there are new titles every month and you might just find a great book that’s not in our regular collection. Here are a few titles added to the large print collection recently.

Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin
While I’m Falling by Laura Moriarty
Dragon House by John Shors
Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen

(Clicking on a title will take you to the library’s online catalog,
to read more about the book or place a hold.)

Check out the large print collection, it’s not just for seniors anymore!
